This resin scale model of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket is over 20 inches tall. It comes in 1/200 scale, is rendered in fine detail, and includes a base. This collectible rocket model measures 21" high x 4" x 3". The base is 1" high and 5.5" by 5.5". All parts of the replica are rendered to the scale of its real-life counterpart, adding to its authenticity. Recommended for Ages 12+ The Space Launch System rocket is a heavy expendable launch vehicle designed by NASA. Its main goal is to replace the Space Shuttle System when used in combination with the Orion spacecraft. The most powerful rocket NASA has ever launched, it is designed for deep space exploration by humans of the Moon, and robotic excursions to the Moon, Mars, and planets too far away for human missions. It can carry more payload into deep space than any other single rocket. The first SLS launch, called Artemis I, was an uncrewed flight meant to demonstrate the system's capabilities, taking place on November 16, 2022. A large, orange central rocket booster fuels the four Space Shuttle engines, and two powerful boosters provide additional thrust during launch. The upper stage supplies the power to send the Orion spacecraft toward the moon. This enables the SLS rocket to launch the Orion spacecraft, astronauts, and large cargo to the Moon on a single mission. The second SLS launch, Artemis II, is scheduled to take 4 astronauts on a circumlunar mission in early 2026.
